Public charge station costs can vary depending on its pricing model, power rating and whether it’s slow, fast or rapid. Charging at fast or rapid chargers can be more expensive than charging at regular charging stations. Before connecting to a fast charger, consider if the speed advantage is priceworthy. We recommend checking the prices before charging using our app.
Starting fee (one-time):
You will be billed for starting a charging session. Starting fees can be combined with other price models.
Charging per kWh:
You will be billed for the kWh consumption.
Minute-based charging:
You will be billed for the amount of time your car is connected to the charging station. This includes parking after charging has finished. At charging stations that use this model, you will see the following note in our app or on the map: costs apply as long as your car is connected to the charging station even when the charging process has already stopped.
Combination of time-based and per kWh:
The price of your charging session will be based on the kWh consumption in combination with the parking time at the charging station.
Fix rate charging
To make the cost of charging transparent for drivers who can’t check the prices in the app, we introduced a fixed rate charging. It’s currently available for all chargers in the Plugsurfing network in Germany. Check the app to see the fix rate prices for AC and DC charging.
